You walk into a new home - it's brand new and gorgeous. But the ugly truth you can't see behind the unscuffed wood floor job and "never been around a kid" paint job is that the plumbing is bad.

It happens more than you think. Hidden behind walls, in the attic, and under your foundation, wear and tear and faulty installation awaits. Sometimes it's nothing - a minor fix with your own tools, but sometimes the cost to rectify unseen damage in a house could end up costing tens of thousands of dollars.
Enter, Superman...errrr... your home inspector. Hiring the right professional to spend several hours looking at your potential new house is a costly ordeal, but ends up saving you in the long run. The home inspector checks for unforeseen issues in the home - everything from doors not closing exactly right to broken ducts in the attic, and the money spent on their services is well worth it, in our opinion.
Getting a home inspection assures you of any issues currently in the home that may or may not be problems. You may want to have the seller fix some of the issues by having your agent draw up an amendment, or you may overlook them, depending on severity. But having a knowledge of what's happening inside the bones of the house helps you make an informed decision on your purchase.
